I spy…a Gem
Where:  The Windsor (234 W 4th St, West Village)
More info: Opened in late 2010, it’s a typical yuppie west village bar (with its very own crest) that claims to be a “sports” bar. Although it’s equipped with eight flat screens and has a row of banquettes for watching games, this place is better for hunting over watching sports.
What is the crowd like? Hamptons meets Country club. It’s where the Talkhouse attendees play in the wintertime (no, seriously, there was a share house “get to know you” party going on while I was there last Friday). It’s also filled with people waiting to get into Wilfie and Nell because it was “too full,” but decided to stay instead (seriously, what’s with the entitled doorman there?). Suggested attire:  Boatshoes, Tods, Yurman, fur and understated Chanel. As for the crowd itself, around 11 PM and on, it’s usually the perfect balance of crowed, but not too crowded.
When to go? Any day of the week and weekends it’s a good day drink spot.
Can I eat there: Sure, they have dec upscale bar fare. The menu includes everything from your standard wings and burgers to coffee & bourbon barbecue ribs and truffle mac and cheese. However, it’s not cheap (shocker). They even charged me $4.00 for a club soda (might I remind you that’s water and carbonation).
What’s nearby? If the scene isn’t what you expected, it’s within skipping distance to Wilfie and Nell (with the cranky doorman) and Diablo Royale (Mexican Restaurant with small but solid bar scene).
